Rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your search:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Home With Private Pool 'The Blue Lagoon' has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you crave, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
