Tips for getting the perfect Charleston vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking a perfect Charleston area rental home:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Southern Charms on Spring ~ Walk Everywhere! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
