How to book the best rental experience:

When to visit Charleston & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:

  • Book your Charleston area rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the best rental home in Charleston:

  • Start by having your family select dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. STEPS to King St. 6BD Home - Spacious + Updated! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
