Strategies to get the perfect Charleston area vacation home experience:
Get the best value:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:
- Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 2 Luxury Homes w\/ Patios
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
