How to get the best Charleston area rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 8 Bedroom - Close to King Street - with Parking! has 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
