How to book the best vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in Charleston. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Downtown Duplex - Spring St - Sleeps 26 has 9 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If not, call the property owner before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
