Finding the best rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Charleston area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Entertainers Dream w\/ Pool, Hot Tub, Game Room! 9 BRs! has 9 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
