Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Charleston area vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Sullivans Island. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect rental home in the Charleston area area:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Raven by AvantStay
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
