Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Downtown Charleston - Large Groups - Sleeps 20! has 9 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area beach you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
