Our neighborhood is an eclectic blend of original residents and visiting out-of-towners. Based in downtown Charleston's East Side, we appreciate the beauty of a multi-ethnic, up and coming ambiance that's the true nature of Charleston living. We hope you will too!
Getting around is very simple downtown. Uber and Lyft are commonplace and effortlessly accessible, and riding a bicycle or walking are also very common. We do ask that people use common sense when walking around the city at nighttime and recommend using a rideshare service. Carta also has a complimentary bus system, and we provide one parking space (shared driveway) per apartment.

Our top Vacation rental tips:
Find your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Quaint Southern Charm - 2 BR Downtown Eastside has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
