Isle of Palms rental home booking tips and tricks:

When to go & When to book:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer months are high season in Isle of Palms. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Charleston area vacation home:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Upgraded SEAGROVE Villa! Beachside, Desirable Location! Pool Access! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
