How to get the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your Charleston area rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Our condominium is located in the heart of the medical district has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
