How to book the best Charleston rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Our condominium is located in the heart of the medical district has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
