Strategies to get the perfect Charleston area vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental home in the Charleston area area:
- First and foremost, have your family choose trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. The Quarters on Vendue - One Bedroom Loft has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you crave, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
