Tricks and tips to get the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental home:
- First, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Angel Oak Suite - King St \/ MUSC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
