Finding the best Charleston area rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Escape to Hideaway (Suite B): Your Tranquil Oasis has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
