Finding the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking the perfectrental home:
- Choose vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Condo in Wild Dunes! Community Pool! Great View Looking at Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
