Vacation rental home tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Thriller - Brand New contruction, Ocean view, Private Pool, Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
