Our top Isle of Palms rental booking tips:

How to get the best value:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing and booking a perfect Charleston area rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group select trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. New Luxury Home with Oceanfront-like Views! HUGE 6400sqft! 6BD, POOL,Hot tub, Elevator has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
