Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. New Luxury Home with Oceanfront-like Views! HUGE 6400sqft! 6BD, POOL,Hot tub, Elevator has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Charleston area beach you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
