The Space: This rental is two seperate homes next to each other.
As you walk into The Parlor home from the first floor piazza, you are greeted by an chic entry entry with the home’s open living room and kitchen to the right. The living room and kitchen area at the front of the home are the original building’s storefront and commercial space. The living room, adorned with classic yet comfortable furnishings pieces, has plenty of space for your group to relax and take in the home’s history and vintage antique artwork. The first floor piazza can be accessed off the living room as well. While The Parlor House has a classic vintage vibe, the kitchen is anything but that! An arched out-cove homes bespoke constructed-ins and a modern stainless steel wine cooler style refrigerator and freezer. A stainless steel oven and stove are also available for nights in with a home cooked meal. Sit at the sizable kitchen bar with seating for five, share a meal or an evening beverage…or better yet both!
The first floor bedroom is located in the back of the home for peaceful nights away from the street and features a huge king bed, en-suite bathroom with a attractively tiled shower/tub combo, as well as a huge closet for suitcases storage. The huge walk-in closet also homes a modest kitchenette with a mini refrigerator.
On the second floor of the home you’ll find two additional bedrooms, one in the front of the home, one in the back. Both of these bedrooms include a comfortable king bed, ample closet space, and a private en-suite bathroom featuring a crafted tiled/glass shower, and single vanity sink. Need to freshen up those vacation outfits after a long day of exploring? The washer/dryer closet is located in the hall upstairs as well. The second floor piazza is accessed from the hall and the front bedroom, and makes an impressive spot to take in Charleston’s spectacular weather over a cup of coffee or the late afternoon drink; the home is called The Parlor House after-all!
For the history buffs, in addition to the antique artwork and vintage decor, each of the three bedrooms feature unique vintage wallpaper designs by William Morris “Morris & Co.” All of the wallpapers were designed in the late 1800’s which is the same time the "Parlour House" was originally constructed. No historical detail has been overlooked! All bedrooms also include flat screen tvs for all your streaming needs, sumptuous linens and towels for each stay, and opulent bath amenities for your convenience. There’s no need to anxiety about parking either, The Parlor House includes one off street parking space so you’ll always have a space for your rental or family car.
Brighton House has been delightfully modernized and ‘revived” from their Victorian era glory days. Following the path down the driveway to Brighton House you are greeted by the bungalow’s sizable welcoming piazzas, an architectural staple here in Charleston, where you can sit and catch the breeze, chat with friends and family, and make your way in.
On the ground floor of the home you will find two of the three bedrooms. The front bedroom homes a enormous king bed, bespoke design elements such as dual closets, and a bright en-suite bathroom with a single vanity and neutral toned tile shower/tub combo. Exterior access to the ground floor piazza is given through this bedroom as well.
The back bedroom is the master bedroom of the bungalow and features unique and historical design elements coupled with elegant modern fixtures and amenities. The master includes a sizable king bed, kitchenette area, and a enormous en-suite bathroom where guests can relax and reset after a long day of sightseeing. The en-suite bath features a double vanity, a huge clawfoot tub, and a separate shower and water closet with a pocket door for added privacy. For guests interested in the historical and artistic elements of the home, the master bed’s headboard features a unique and artistic fabric design created and crafted as a celebration piece of African-American history and culture in the style of French Toile. The design, named ‘Harlem Toile’, “lampoons some of the stereotypes deeply woven into the African American experience.” It was designed by Sheila Bridges, an African-American artist and designer from the Harlem neighborhood of NYC, and is supplied in the permanent collection of Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum.
The home’s living spaces are primarily found on the second floor to take advantage of the large second floor piazza. As you can see, it is the best place for the group to gather to talk about the plans for the day, share a meal at the large table, and appreciate the handsome Charleston weather! With ample space and seating for everybody, you will find yourselves living the outdoor lifestyle day and nighttime.
Inside you’ll find the cozy yet cavernous living area featuring comfortable seating, a flat screen TV and a dining table for six. Open to the living area is the kitchen which features all the modern stainless steel appliances and amenities you could need for a nighttime in cooking a magnificent meal for the family.
The third and final bedroom is located off of the kitchen and features a full size bed, closet space, and an en-suite bathroom which can be accessed from another door off the kitchen as well. This bathroom homes a single vanity and large elegantly tiled glass walk-in shower
All bedrooms also include flat screen TVs for all your streaming needs, sumptuous linens and towels for each stay, and extravagant bath amenities for your convenience. There’s no need to worry about parking either, Brighton House includes one off street parking space so you’ll always have a space for one rental or family car. e!

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
- Two Homes
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
