Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, change your family's Charleston area vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Freshly Renovated 2 Bedroom Apt, Walk Everywhere! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
