Charleston rental booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Choosing the best rental in the Charleston area area:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Indigo Suite at 360 King has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If not, call the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
