Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Charleston rental home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- First, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. The Iris, Signature Suite has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
