Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the best rental home in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. ? DELANA SUITE ? New Prime Downtown Spot! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
