Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Charleston area vacation property experience:
Finding the best value:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Charleston area vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing your prefectvacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Boutique Home & Resort Pool ‘The Cisco’ has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a particular Charleston area destination you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
