Rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the perfect rental home in the Charleston area area:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Frank Sottile 8 Newly renovated has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
