Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best rental in the Charleston area area:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Gorgeous Beach Home, Ocean Views, w\/Private Pool & Hot Tub! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular Charleston area beach you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
