Strategies for getting the perfect Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking the right Charleston area rental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Gorgeous Large Beach Home with Private Pool! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Charleston area destination you love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
