Getting the best rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect vacation rental:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Folly Suite
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
