Tips for getting the perfect Charleston area vacation rental experience:
When to book a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Charleston. Book your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Entire Home in Charleston SC has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Advice for a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
