Getting the best Charleston rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing and booking the best Charleston area rental home:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Enchanting Townhome in the Harleston Village, Parking Included has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
