Charleston vacation rental home tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in Charleston. Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing and booking the right Charleston area rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Cozy tropical oasis 10 minutes from beach and downtown Charleston has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
