Strategies for getting the best Charleston area rental experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the perfect rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Downtown 3 Bedroom with Tons of Natural Light has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
