Tips to get the best Charleston rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Charleston. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Interior Designer's Dream - 4 Bedroom in Historic Charleston has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Charleston area beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Tips for a great stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
