Booking the best Charleston rental home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Charleston area vacation home:

  • Start by having your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. St. Michael's Place Retreat has 4 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
