Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Charleston. To book the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose a perfectrental home:
- Choose vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Cozy townhome just 10 mins to downtown! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
