Rental home tips and tricks:
Finding the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in Charleston. To get the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the right Charleston area rental home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Charming Secluded Courtyard - 1 BLOCK TO KING! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
