The Space: Brighton House is a part of the Revival Street Collection, a site of historic homes which have been gorgeously refreshed and ‘revived” from their Victorian era glory days. Following the path down the driveway to Brighton House you are greeted by the bungalow’s huge welcoming piazzas, an architectural staple here in Charleston, where you can sit and catch the breeze, chat with friends and family, and make your way in.
On the ground floor of the home you will find two of the three bedrooms. The front bedroom homes a sizable king bed, bespoke design elements such as dual closets, and a bright en-suite bathroom with a single vanity and neutral toned tile shower/tub combo. Exterior access to the ground floor piazza is given through this bedroom as well.
The back bedroom is the master bedroom of the bungalow and features unique and historical design elements coupled with impressive modern fixtures and amenities. The master includes a enormous king bed, kitchenette area, and a sizable en-suite bathroom where guests can relax and reset after a long day of sightseeing. The en-suite bath features a double vanity, a huge clawfoot tub, and a separate shower and water closet with a pocket door for added privacy. For guests interested in the historical and artistic elements of the home, the master bed’s headboard features a unique and artistic fabric design created and crafted as a celebration piece of African-American history and culture in the style of French Toile. The design, named ‘Harlem Toile’, “lampoons some of the stereotypes deeply woven into the African American experience.” It was designed by Sheila Bridges, an African-American artist and designer from the Harlem neighborhood of NYC, and is included in the permanent collection of Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum.
The home’s living spaces are primarily found on the second floor to take advantage of the huge second floor piazza. As you can see, it is the best place for the group to gather to talk about the plans for the day, share a meal at the large table, and savor the handsome Charleston weather! With ample space and seating for everybody, you will find yourselves living the outdoor lifestyle day and nighttime.
Inside you’ll find the cozy yet roomy living area featuring comfortable seating, a flat screen TV and a dining table for six. Open to the living area is the kitchen which features all the modern stainless steel appliances and amenities you could need for a nighttime in cooking a magnificent meal for the family.
The third and final bedroom is located off of the kitchen and features a full size bed, closet space, and an en-suite bathroom which can be accessed from another door off the kitchen as well. This bathroom homes a single vanity and large handsomely tiled glass walk-in shower
All bedrooms also include flat screen TVs for all your streaming needs, sumptuous linens and towels for each stay, and opulent bath amenities for your convenience. There’s no need to worry about parking either, Brighton House includes one off street parking space so you’ll always have a space for one rental or family car.

Strategies to get the best Charleston vacation home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, change your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing and booking the bestrental home:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Brighton House
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
