Strategies to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Charleston. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the rightvacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. New Listing: Historic Harleston Village Monthly Rental has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
