- Private vacation home
Roomy home on private lake. Just a few miles to the downtown, but in a peaceful neighborhood. This location offers the best of everything! Appreciate coffee from the deck and enchanting wildlife in the lake. Use a kayak to take in the turtles, ducks and fish. Walk across the street for grocery, Starbucks, eateries and even a liquor store. Use a bicycle to ride through the neighborhoods or to the store. And just a few mins. away is the striking downtown Charleston. James Island offers fantastic eateries and parks itself but the beach and downtown are just a short drive. My home offers a peaceful reprieve from the excitement with three big bedrooms, a additional room/office, a great room, dining room, completely outfitted kitchen and breakfast nook. The decks offer ways to savor the outside with a nice dining area for cookouts. Cozy beds and quality linens make coming home that much nicer. The electric fireplace offers warm and ambiance. There isn’t much you will need when staying here! Welcome home!

Getting the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing and booking your Charleston area vacation home:
- To start, have your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Waterfront-close to downtown, beaches; August discount! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
