Strategies to get the best rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your group agree to trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Beautiful Townhome 10 min from Charleston & Beaches, Pool, Tennis Court! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
