Tips to get the optimal Charleston area vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. ? THE INNS ? Beautiful 6BR \/ 6BA - Walk to King! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
