How to book the best vacation property experience:
When to visit Charleston & When to book:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- To get the largest rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the perfect rental in Charleston:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 219 Fishburne in Progress has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
