Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your Charleston area vacation home:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. The Tree Top Terrace- is private, close to ocean & downtown on James Island.. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
