Our top Charleston vacation rental tips:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group choose date ranges and a spending budget.
- 1 Block from King St has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
