Rental home tips:

When to visit & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the best rental home in the Charleston area area:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 2 Luxury Houses w\/ Patios
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is right for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
