About this Property

  • Sleeps 6

  • Private vacation home

Summary:
Indulge in a stay at The Monroe on Spring. An entirely-modernized, Historic Charleston manor circa 1885. No expense was spared in the restoration, intended to exude both rich history and modern extravagance.

Just a brief walk to the iconic King Street, you are really in the heart of Downtown. Explore the striking streets, shop and dine to your heart’s content, and relax in the evenings on the sprawling Charleston porches.

The Space:
The Penthouse Suite is the entire upstairs of this Victorian dream. Complete with two king bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two twin bunk beds in the living area, this space sleeps up to 8 people.

The kitchen is entirely supplied and equipped. Appreciate the striking Charleston style porch as well. Off-street parking supplied (a rarity downtown!). We offer high-speed WiFi and Intelligent TVs throughout.

Guest Access:
You'll have access to the entire upstairs of the home (with a private entrance) and the wrap-around porch. You will not have to share any common areas with the downstairs guests. Parking supplied as well!

The Neighborhood:
The Elliotborough/Cannonborough district of downtown Charleston. With its friendly neighbors, comfortable eateries, and tree lined streets, our neighborhood will immerse you in Charleston’s classic appeal. This home is ideal for a family or group seeking a fun, culinary and cultural vacation. Popular dining spots in the neighborhood include Xiao Bao Biscuit, Fuel, Porchetta Shop, Southbound, R Kitchen, Chubby Fish and many more! Our guests and neighbors also rave about Welton's Tiny Bakeshop and Kudu Coffee. We recommend going to either for a cup of locally-roasted coffee or their delicious cookies and cakes. The home is only a short walk from the very trendy King Street where you will find a multitude of great stores – including antique stores, book stores and fashion stores – as well as countless buzzing eateries and bars.

Getting Around:
You can walk nearly everywhere - but should you want to rest your feet, there are many other options for getting around: Uber, Lyft, Charleston Bicycle Taxi, Charleston Rickshaw, Green Taxi or Yellow Cab.

Tips to get the perfect Charleston area rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • To find the best rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. THE PENTHOUSE Historic Victorian, Downtown Home has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
