Strategies to get the best Charleston area rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. ? ZUMA SUITE ? Walk to King Street Shops! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
