Our top Charleston vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. ? ZUMA SUITE ? Walk to King Street Shops! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.

- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
