Finding the best Charleston area vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Whispering Palms- The Perfect Beach House! Elevator, Close to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Know before you go:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
