Getting the best Charleston vacation home experience:
When to visit Charleston & When to book:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To book the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to select the best vacation home in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Charleston Charm - 2 Blocks to King St - 5BR\/6BA has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you are crazy about, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
