Vacation rental home tips:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summer is high season in Isle of Palms. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Club, Gated Community, Oceanfront Pool and Hot Tub access has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Charleston area beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
