How to find the best Charleston area vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Isle of Palms. To get the best value, shift your family's Charleston area vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 15 Lake Village Lane by AvantStay
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you crave, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Advice for a great stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
