Strategies to get the optimal Charleston area rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental:
- Start by having your group select trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Thomas Waring House Suite C: Elegance and Comfort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
