Charleston area vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book a perfectrental:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. SUNSET - King Suite w\/ Kitchenette! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
