Finding the best Charleston rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. SUNSET - King Suite w\/ Kitchenette! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
